MINDSET – Is Your Vision Board Preventing You From Reaching Your Goals?

Vision boards are often recommended to help us identify what we want from life and to aid us in visualizing our goals. Many people find them to be incredibly helpful.

    But are they?

Vision boards may be blocking your ability to achieve your goals.

(In case you are not familiar with a vision board, you cut out pictures, which represent the future that you want, and paste them on a board. The board should be visible and placed where you can look at it several times throughout the day.)

In concept, this is a great practice. Many have found this to be an effective method for manifesting their vision. However, with so many touting the benefits of a vision board, you may be wondering why it hasn’t worked for you. Here are a couple of possibilities:

Looking at the board reminds you of what you don’t have.

The vision board concept is based on the practice of shifting your emotions and energies to your chosen goals. It requires you to energetically align with your vision and be in a state of abundance.

When you look at your vision board, it should make you feel comfortable and content. However, if your board reminds you of what is missing in your life, your energies will decline. Instead of raising your vibration to a higher level, you may be diminishing it. If you find your spirits are a little lower after looking at your vision board, that is a clear sign that at some level, you are more connected with what you lack instead of what you hope to achieve.

Your vision board is too aggressive.

It is a great practice to set huge goals and have big dreams. Your vision board should reflect the significant vision you have identified. Yet, if the concepts displayed on your board are so significant that you can’t see them as feasible, it won’t help. At a subconscious level, you will tell yourself it is not possible. Your internal belief will block the effectiveness of the tool.

Someone discovered your board and made disparaging comments.

A suggested practice in creating your vision board is to place it where you can look at it several times each day. However, if someone else discovers your board, they may react less than enthusiastically to your dreams. Certain people are small thinkers. They often laugh at the dreams of others and voice doubts. Suppose you are exposed to their opposing viewpoint. In that case, it may reduce your level of confidence and rob you of enthusiasm for your vision.

Should You Use A Vision Board?

Big dreams require big visions. A vision board may be an effective tool in supporting your efforts to attain your goals. However, keep in mind that no single tool works for everyone. If a vision board does not give you the results you hope for, that is OK. It just means you need to find a different way to create your goals.

POSITIVE AFFIRMATION: I find and use the best tools that assist me in achieving my goals.
